US Secretary of Defense hospitalized again: Pentagon gives details

United States Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin is hospitalized again due to bladder problems. All government agencies have been informed of the situation.

This was stated by Pentagon spokesman Pat Ryder, RBC-Ukraine reports, citing the department's website.

According to Ryder, on February 11, at about 14:20 Washington time, Austin's security team took him to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center for an examination due to symptoms indicating urgent bladder problems.

The Deputy Secretary of Defense, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, as well as the White House and Congress, have been informed of the situation.

"At the moment, the Secretary is maintaining the functions and responsibilities of his office. The Deputy Secretary is ready to assume the functions and responsibilities of the Secretary of Defense, if necessary. Secretary Austin arrived at the hospital with unclassified and classified communications systems necessary to fulfill his duties," the statement said.
