A convoy of 50 cars donated by ordinary Britons or scrapped as part of a program to combat harmful emissions has left London for Ukraine.

According to Yevropeiska Pravda, this was announced on social media by Ukraine's Ambassador to the UK, General Valeriy Zaluzhny.

The convoy of 50 vehicles set off on a long journey to Ukraine from the embassy in London.

The cars were donated by the British to Ukraine and would otherwise have been scrapped under the ULEZ scrappage program because they no longer meet the latest environmental requirements. At the end of last year, the UK agreed to transfer such vehicles to Ukraine.

The ceremony was attended by the British who had joined the initiative, as well as members of the British Parliament, the Deputy Mayor of London, and the heads of several humanitarian projects.

From the Ukrainian side, boxer Oleksandr Usyk and famous footballer Oleksiy Mykhailichenko were invited to the ceremony.

“I am grateful to everyone who supported this initiative and urge everyone who has the opportunity to donate their car to Ukraine through the ULEZ program. These cars are someone's saved lives and a significant help to our country in the fight against the consequences of Russian aggression. Together we can do more,” said Valeriy Zaluzhny.
