The Lithuanian Foreign Ministry noted that it had summoned a representative of the Russian Embassy “in response to Russia's intensified shelling of Ukrainian civilian targets, in particular the attack in Poltava, which killed dozens of people.”

“The Lithuanian Foreign Ministry noted that missiles and bombs hitting educational institutions, hospitals and residential areas demonstrate Russia's desperation and complete disregard for human life and international humanitarian law,” the statement said.

It also reminded Russian diplomats that responsibility for these war crimes lies not only with their direct perpetrators, but also with those responsible for planning and carrying out Russia's military aggression against Ukraine.

“Lithuania, together with the international community, once again calls on Russia to immediately stop its criminal brutal aggression and reaffirms that it will do everything possible to further strengthen its support for Ukraine,” the Lithuanian Foreign Ministry assured.
