Kirby: US will help Ukraine prepare for peace talks with Russia

The United States intends to help Ukraine to be in a strong enough position to start negotiations on ending the war with Russia.

This was stated by John Kirby, Strategic Communications Coordinator for the US National Security Council, RBC-Ukraine reports, citing a press conference at the White House on September 5.

According to him, the United States helped to promote President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's “peace formula” internationally, and it has gained significant international support.

The coordinator also noted that “if this war is going to end through negotiations, we want to make sure that President Zelenskyy is in the best position to make decisions about what those negotiations will look like.”

“We are absolutely focused on making sure that Ukraine has what it needs to defend itself and to put it in a strong position if and when negotiations take place,” Kirby said.
