According to the agency's source, Germany is sticking to its plan to supply 12 IRIS-T SLM air defense systems to Ukraine. It is known that four units have already been delivered, two more are expected by the end of the year, and the remaining six will be delivered later.

IRIS-T (Infra Red Imaging System Tail/Thrust Vector-Controlled) is a modern surface-to-air missile system designed to protect against airborne threats such as airplanes, helicopters, drones and cruise missiles. The system was developed by the German company Diehl Defense and is one of the most advanced in the world.

Main characteristics of IRIS-T:

  • Modularity: IRIS-T can integrate with various radar and command and control systems, providing flexibility in deployment.
  • Range: Up to 40 km, depending on the type of threat.
  • High accuracy: The use of infrared sensors allows the missile to be precisely aimed at the target even in conditions of electronic interference.
  • Mobility: The system is installed on mobile platforms, which allows it to quickly change positions to protect different objects.
