A third of Karabakh's population has already left for Armenia

As of the morning of September 28, the number of refugees from Karabakh who crossed the Armenian border exceeded 65,000.

According to Radio Azatutyun, this was announced by the government.

As of 8 a.m., 65,036 Armenians from Nagorno-Karabakh, who did not want to stay there after the region returned to Azerbaijani control, crossed the border into Armenia.

According to the 2015 census, about 145,000 people lived in the region, almost all of them ethnic Armenians.

People arrive through the border town of Kornidzor, where they are met by volunteers and offered food and basic necessities. The main registration point is the city of Goris.

Since Tuesday, the Armenian government has launched special centers in all regions of the country to support IDPs from Karabakh.
