Biden officially announces that he will run for a second term

Apr 25, 2023

The current US President Joe Biden has officially announced his intention to run for the presidency for the second time in the 2024 elections.

This was announced by Joe Biden.

On Tuesday morning, Biden published a video message saying that he was going to run for re-election as president of the United States to "finish the job."

"Every generation has a moment when it needs to defend democracy. To defend your fundamental freedoms. I believe that such a moment has come for us now. That's why I will run for re-election as President of the United States," Joe Biden announced.

"It was my job during my first term to fight for our democracy, to protect our rights... The question we face is whether in the years ahead we will have more or less freedoms and more or less rights. I know what answer I would like, and I think you do too. Now is not the time for complacency. That's why I'm running for re-election," he says in a video message.

Biden outlines the values he proposes to promote: integrity, respect, dignity for each other, and equal opportunities for all.

It should be noted that Joe Biden is the oldest sitting president of the United States, and at the end of his second four-year term, he will be 86 years old.

On the eve of the campaign, he faced low public approval ratings. A recent Reuters/Ipsos poll showed that only 39% of Americans approve of his job performance.
