Biden-Scholz meeting may "move" Ukraine toward long-range weapons

Feb 9, 2024

US President Joe Biden's meeting with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz could help Ukraine gain new long-range capabilities.

This was reported by RBC-Ukraine, citing a statement by Ukraine's Ambassador to the United States Oksana Markarova during a telethon.

"This is an important meeting. I hope that they will discuss the opportunities that we have not yet received. I hope that it will move us towards long-range opportunities. We constantly remind both partners that we need them," the diplomat emphasized.

It is worth noting that German Chancellor Olaf Scholz is on a visit to the United States. During the visit, the head of the German government wanted to discuss military assistance to Ukraine with American officials.

In particular, the chancellor has already met with U.S. senators who are considering new funding for Ukraine for more than $60 billion.
