Borrell calls on China to influence Russia to end the war in Ukraine
On Friday, July 26, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell met with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi to discuss, among other things, Russian aggression against Ukraine.

During a meeting with the Chinese representative on the sidelines of the ASEAN Regional Forum in Laos, Borrell raised the issue of relations between the EU and China.
He drew attention to the fact that China's support for Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine “negatively affects relations between the EU and China” and expressed concern about China's exports of “a large number of goods and dual-use items” to Russia.
“The High Representative asked China to use its influence on Russia to help end the war. He asked China to support the peace process in Ukraine and believes that the joint statement with Brazil of May 2024 does not go in this direction,” the statement said.
