Britain is ready for different scenarios in Russia - Sunak
After the attempt by the Wagner PMC to stage a coup in Russia, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said that Britain is ready for various scenarios in Russia.
Sunak's statement was quoted by Reuters on Monday.
Sunak said that Britain is closely monitoring the events in Russia, where this weekend Russian President Vladimir Putin faced an unprecedented challenge to his power due to the failed coup by mercenary fighters from the Wagner group.
"It's too early to predict with certainty what the consequences might be, but of course, we are ready, as always, for different scenarios," Sunak told reporters.
"This is a situation that we have been analyzing and monitoring for some time because we are aware of the potentially destabilizing impact of Russia's illegal war in Ukraine and the tensions between the Wagner group and the Putin regime," the British prime minister added.
