Child of Mariupol defenders who were captured in Russia returned home

The Office of the Ukrainian Parliamentary Commissioner for Human Rights, Dmytro Lubynets, shared the good news that resulted from his team's efforts. 6-year-old Anna-Maria, who was kidnapped by the occupiers and taken to the territory of the Russian Federation from the temporarily occupied Mariupol, has returned to her parents.

As the politician said on his Telegram channel, the girl's parents defended their hometown in the first months after the invasion and then were captured by the enemy army. After being released from captivity, the girl's mother turned to the Ombudsman's Office with a request to help return her daughter.

"We conducted complex diplomatic work with representatives of the Russian Federation and managed to bring the child home. Now the whole family is in Ukraine and is happy to be reunited," Lubinets wrote.
