China and France support non-proliferation of nuclear weapons

The leaders of France and China - Emmanuel Macron and Xi Jinping - issued a joint statement following talks in the Chinese city of Guangzhou, condemning nuclear escalation and calling for the restoration of peace in Ukraine.

In the joint statement, Macron and Xi emphasize their role as permanent members of the UN Security Council and their commitment to resolving differences and disputes peacefully through dialogue and consultation.

France and China have agreed to strengthen coordination and cooperation to jointly preserve the credibility and effectiveness of the arms control and non-proliferation regime, as well as to move the international arms control process forward.
