Jul 10, 2023

The Turkish company Baykar has started building a plant in Ukraine to produce Bayraktar unmanned aerial vehicles. The agreement on its construction was reached several years ago.

This was announced by Minister of Strategic Industries Oleksandr Kamyshyn, RBC-Ukraine reports citing a telethon.

"Today, this plant is starting to be built, we have taken real steps," the minister said.

According to him, this is the large Bayraktar plant that was agreed upon a few years ago, but then "there were stops and scandals."

"The plant started to be built in practice, not just in a memorandum," Kamyshyn added.

It is worth noting that in July 2022, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal announced the preparation of an agreement with Turkey that would allow the construction of the Bayraktar drone plant in Ukraine.

Baykar has already received license permits from Turkey to manufacture Bayraktar TB2 and Akıncı in Ukraine.

Baykar CEO Haluk Bayraktar said that the plant in Ukraine will open in 2025. The planned investment is $95.5 million.
