Mar 14, 2023

On March 14, North Korea launched short-range ballistic missiles for the second time in recent days.

According to the South Korean Yonhap news agency, this was announced by the South Korean military.

The Joint Chiefs of Staff recorded the launches at 7:41 and 7:51 local time from the southern province of Hwanghae. The missiles traveled about 620 kilometers. The South Korean and US militaries continue to clarify details.

This is the second launch in three days. Before that, on the morning of March 12, the DPRK launched cruise missiles from a submarine, which is the first such case - at least of those known.

The intensification of launches is associated with the start of joint military exercises of South Korea and the United States Freedom Shield, along with the continuation of Warrior Shield exercises. The DPRK sees this as "preparations for an aggressive war" against it.
