Duda: Ukraine needs guarantees to prevent Russia from attacking again

Jun 28, 2023

President of Poland Andrzej Duda said that Ukraine needs to be provided with such security guarantees to make a potential Russian attack impossible in the future.

He said this during a joint press conference with Presidents Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Gitanas Nausėda in Kyiv, Yevropeiska Pravda reports.

Duda emphasized that Ukraine's security is "the security of all of us, it is our common interest".

He expressed hope that Ukraine would become a full member of NATO in the future and added that he would do everything possible to make it happen as soon as possible.

The Polish president recalled his talks with international allies, during which they discussed security guarantees for Ukraine.

"Today it is extremely important to strengthen the security of NATO's eastern flank. And to bring Ukraine closer to NATO as much as possible, to cover it with such security guarantees that would discourage the Russian aggressor from new acts of aggression against Ukraine," Duda said.

As you know, at the July NATO summit in Vilnius, Ukraine is seeking to achieve clear wording on the prospect of membership in the North Atlantic Alliance.
