EC released report on Ukraine's compliance with EU law

Feb 3, 2023

The European Commission published an report assessing the possibility for Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia to take on obligations regarding EU membership.

This is reported with reference to the press service of the European Commission.

The report contains an analysis of where the countries are at in accordance with EU legislation.

"The reports complement the Opinions on the three countries' applications for EU membership adopted by the European Commission in June 2022. The European Council granted a European perspective for the three countries and candidate status for Ukraine and Moldova, in line with the Opinions which specify a number of priorities to be addressed in this context," the press service reports.

All countries were evaluated on the basis of the same criteria and their own merits. You can read the analytical analysis on Ukraine at the link.

The reports offer recommendations for the country's upcoming work.

"The European Commission will continue to provide Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia with guidance and support in this regard to help the three countries further align to EU standards and norms covering the entire EU acquis," the press office adds.

The commission will also report on the countries' progress in implementing reforms as part of the "enlargement package," which will take place in the fall.

We shall remind you that today the Ukraine-EU summit is taking place in Kyiv, during which the first assessment of the implementation of the recommendations for EU accession may be announced.
