Estonia to allocate over 656 thousand for humanitarian aid to Ukraine

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Estonia has decided to allocate 656,447 euros for humanitarian aid to Ukraine. The aid is primarily intended to support the education of children in the frontline areas.

The Public Affairs Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported that:

352,695 euros will be used by the non-profit organization Eesti Pagulasabi for multi-purpose financial assistance in the most vulnerable regions of Ukraine, to improve the living conditions of people in Ukraine and among Ukrainian refugees in Georgia.

With the help of 303,752 euros, the non-profit Mondo will organize after-school summer camps for Zaporizhzhia schoolchildren and offer mental health support to people in Ukraine.

"The people of Ukraine, including young children, are paying a high and painful price because of Russian terror. Daily attacks, including in the Kharkiv region in recent weeks, have resulted in the deaths of civilians, the destruction of buildings and the displacement of thousands of vulnerable people from their homes. It is our duty to support them in every way possible," said Foreign Minister Margus Tsakhkna.

According to the newspaper, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, approximately 14.6 million people in Ukraine will need humanitarian assistance in 2024, with the most acute need in the frontline areas.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Estonia provided assistance to Ukraine mainly on a bilateral basis through strategic humanitarian assistance partners, as well as through the International Committee of the Red Cross and the UN humanitarian aid organization. In addition, a variety of assistance has been sent in the form of specific items, most recently mainly medical supplies.
