Estonian President Signs Decree Recalling Ambassador to Moscow

Feb 7, 2023

President of Estonia Alar Karis signed a decree on the withdrawal of Margus Laidre from the post of Ambassador of the Republic of Estonia to Russia.

This is reported by the European Pravda, citing the decision of the Estonian president.

Russia decided in January to reduce the level of diplomatic relations with Estonia to temporary chargé d'affaires. Estonian Ambassador in Moscow Margus Laidra was ordered to leave Russia by February 7.

As the level of diplomatic relations will be reduced, Russia will also recall its ambassador to Tallinn, Vladimir Lipayev. He too must leave Estonia no later than February 7.
