European allies are currently discussing the joint transfer of a total of 80 Leopard 2 main battle tanks to Ukraine to form two battalions of 40 vehicles each.
This is reported by Spiegel, citing its sources.
It is already officially known that Germany will provide a company of 14 Leopard 2 A6 tanks from the Bundeswehr stocks. Apparently, these tanks are to be part of the same battalion, of which the Leopards from Finland, Spain, and the Netherlands are to be part - all of them are also Leopard 2 A6 modifications.
The second battalion is supposed to be formed by Leopards from Poland and Norway, which have Leopard 2A4s.
