Finland's €2 million in assistance will be provided through a World Food Program (WFP) project that has been operating since August 2023 and provides financial support to elderly Ukrainians who have very low pensions and live near the war zone.

Since August 2023, more than 360,000 people have received such payments.

“The contributions of Finland and other donors allow the World Food Program to continue the project until the end of 2024,” the statement said.

Since the beginning of the full-scale war, Finland has provided €11 million for WFP humanitarian assistance programs in Ukraine. 8 million of this amount was spent on providing basic food to Ukrainians in the frontline areas and financial support to the most vulnerable categories, and another 1 million euros was spent on demining agricultural land.
