The press service of the customs office said that Finland's control over compliance with sanctions has yielded results. In total, 29 thousand violations in the transportation of goods were detected, 2800 targeted inspections were conducted, and 740 preliminary investigations were launched.

Sami Rakshit, Director of Customs Control, said that sanctions continue to be improved, in particular to close loopholes to circumvent restrictions.

"As part of customs supervision, we have identified several attempts to circumvent sanctions, when, for example, forged customs documents were used or attempts were made to conceal the ownership structure of companies and the real destinations of cargo," Rakshit said.

According to him, after the border was closed, trade between the two countries shifted to the Vainikkala railway checkpoint and ports in southern Finland. He also noted that customs officers will pay special attention to attempts to circumvent sanctions on these routes.
