"Over the past week, as a result of offensive actions in the Melitopol and Berdiansk directions, the Armed Forces of Ukraine have advanced by more than 1 km, which makes a total of 8.6 km since the start of the offensive in these areas," he said.

According to him, over 10 square kilometers of Ukrainian land were liberated in the south over the past week. Since the beginning of the offensive in the Melitopol and Berdiansk directions, the Ukrainian Defense Forces have liberated 169 square kilometers from Russian invaders, which is roughly the size of the city of Odesa. Mine clearance activities are ongoing in these areas.

Last week, the Ukrainian Armed Forces liberated 4 square kilometers of land in the Bakhmut sector. The total area liberated in the Bakhmut sector is 24 square kilometers, Kovalov said.

"Ukrainian soldiers are consolidating their positions on the achieved frontiers. They are inflicting artillery fire on the identified enemy targets. They are carrying out counter-battery measures. The enemy resists, moves units and troops. He is actively using his reserves. Heavy fighting continues here," the spokesman said.
