"We have a very clear position in this direction: we do not impose sanctions, and we have very strong arguments for this," he said.

Kobakhidze assured that Georgia is not being used to circumvent sanctions.

According to the prime minister, Georgia supports Ukraine "politically, provides it with powerful humanitarian aid," and has "exceptionally friendly relations with the Ukrainian people".

Officials in Georgia say that they are complying with all sanctions imposed by Western countries against Russia. However, Georgia itself does not plan to impose sanctions against Russia.
