"We will work to ensure transatlantic political unity and the optimal military presence of North American allies in Europe, including the eastern flank," the document says.

The two countries also announced deepening cooperation at the governmental level to provide military assistance to Ukraine, in particular, in the repair and maintenance of Leopard 2 tanks.

According to the plan, Poland is also considering participating in the Berlin-based European Sky Shield initiative.

On July 2, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz arrived in Poland on a working visit and met with Prime Minister Donald Tusk. The two politicians took part in intergovernmental consultations between the cabinets, the first such meeting since 2018.
