The German government wants to make a positive decision to allow Poland to supply Ukraine with MiG-29 fighter jets.
The German newspaper Süddeutsche Zeitung has learned this from government sources.
The decision to authorize the delivery of the aircraft is to be made this Thursday, Defense Minister Boris Pistorius said earlier.
According to the newspaper, it is about five MiG-29 aircraft from the old stocks of the German Democratic Republic, which Germany once transferred to Poland.
The German government does not see a fundamental problem with this delivery, as it will only replenish Ukraine's air fleet, the newspaper emphasizes. Unlike the supply of Western fighters, the delivery of MiG-29 aircraft does not add a new quality to the equipment of the Ukrainian armed forces.
