IDF announces expansion of operations in Gaza Strip

The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) says it is expanding operations in the Gaza Strip, specifically in the Zeitoun and Jabaliya neighborhoods of Gaza City.

According to Ukrinform, this was reported by The Times of Israel.

In a statement, the IDF said that the Southern Command "continues to expand its operations in additional areas" and is working to "destroy terrorists and strike at Hamas infrastructure."

The Israeli military added that the 36th Division is acting against a Hamas battalion in the Zeitoun area on the outskirts of Gaza City, while the 162nd Division is operating on the outskirts of Jabalia.

Both areas are considered Hamas strongholds.

The Israeli Defense Forces noted that engineer forces, infantry, and tanks, along with air support, faced several Hamas militants who "deliberately operate in civilian areas and try to attack troops with anti-tank missiles and explosive devices".
