The situation in Bakhmut remains difficult, but under control. The enemy switched to the so-called "Syrian" scorched earth tactics, destroying buildings and positions with fire.

This is reported by RBC-Ukraine, citing a statement by the commander of the Eastern Group of Forces, Colonel General Oleksandr Syrsky.

"Our brave soldiers have exhausted the Wagner mercenaries with their actions, so the enemy is now forced to bring in special forces and airborne assault units to fight for Bakhmut," Syrsky said.

He stressed that the fighting is tough on both sides.

"The enemy has switched to the so-called “Syrian” scorched earth tactics. Russians destroy buildings and positions with air strikes and artillery fire. The defense of Bakhmut continues. The situation is difficult, but controlled," Syrsky reported.

Yesterday Syrsky visited the hottest areas of the front in the Bakhmut direction, where he heard the commanders of military units and groupings about the progress of defense and problematic issues requiring immediate solutions.

The general on the spot made operational decisions and set tasks, and met with the personnel of the brigades of the Army, Airborne Assault Troops, Territorial Defense, which today heroically resist the offensive of the enemy in the Bakhmut direction, and noted the best fighters with awards.
