Is there a threat of Russian invasion of NATO countries?

This opinion was expressed in an interview with RBC-Ukraine by Julien Bayou, a member of the French National Assembly.

"Not yet. It seems like something far away. But if you look back, I mean Georgia, Syria, Moldova, Ukraine, you can see a clear line. But even the Baltic States are a long way away for France. It's farther than Germany," he explained.

At the same time, the MP sees Russia as an empire with an imperialist approach, and it is obvious that, according to him, Russians consider the Baltic states to be part of Russia.

"And I see Russia moving to a military economy, reorganizing its army and preparing for the next step. If they win or get a half victory in Ukraine, then obviously, the next step could be Moldova. Maybe not in a year, but in 5 or 10 years," Bayou said.

He is confident that Europe should be prepared because Putin has always tested the reaction.

"Donbas. What is happening there? Well, not much is happening. So, we are moving on. And the threat to the Baltic states is a huge test. What is Europe's response? We don't want to experiment. That is why this is an existential question for Europe. And I don't see any future for France outside of Europe, or if Europe falls. We don't want to answer this question, and the best way to avoid answering it is to support the complete victory of Ukraine," the MP believes.
