Israel and some other democratic countries could help Ukraine more in the war against Russia.
This was stated by French President Emmanuel Macron, Voice of America reports.
"Yes, we would hope that Israel would be more involved in the issue of Ukraine. There are other UN countries that believe in democratic values, but have not provided much equipment. We hope that in the coming months these countries will be able to change their attitude and do more," Macron said.
According to him, NATO allies should also do more for Ukraine, particularly now, during the counteroffensive.
Commenting on Volodymyr Zelensky's statements calling NATO's reluctance to invite Ukraine to join the Alliance "absurd" and "weakness," Macron said that the Ukrainian president has the right to demand.
"It is fair for the Ukrainian president to demand because he is in the center of a war, defending the sovereignty of his country, his people. We have to stand by international values, protecting Europe. And this is what we are doing – we are defending Ukraine, we are imposing sanctions on Russia, we would like to avoid escalation and expansion of the conflict," the French president emphasized.-
