This was stated by the Prime Minister of Slovakia Robert Fico, RBC-Ukraine reports citing Aktuality.sk.

According to the Slovak politician, he received a notification from the Italian government regarding the withdrawal of the air defense system, which "they lent us for a year, (it) will be withdrawn from Slovakia because they need it elsewhere."

In this context, Fico asked what will protect nuclear power plants and other strategic targets in Slovakia.

"First, the previous government gave Ukraine a serviceable massive Russian S-300 air defense system. Then we had American Patriots here for some time, they also left, and now the Italian ones will leave," he said.

The publication notes that in Slovakia, 145 Italian soldiers with the SAMP/T Mamba air defense system are operating at the Malacky-Kucina military base as part of NATO's forward presence.
