The aggressor state of Russia plans to replenish its army with 500 thousand people due to losses in the war against Ukraine. This was stated by Brigadier General Oleksiy Hromov, Deputy Chief of the Main Operational Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, in an interview with Ukrinform on Wednesday, July 5.

Gromov said that there is no official mobilization in Russia at the moment, but the recruitment of contract soldiers continues. According to him, since the beginning of the spring conscription, the occupiers have been able to recruit only 6 to 15 thousand people for contract service.

"Officially, mobilization in Russia has been suspended. However, measures are being taken to recruit contract servicemen to man up and replenish the losses of units in the combat zone. According to the Kremlin's plans, up to 500,000 additional people are expected to join the armed forces. However, the level of training and support of the military personnel who sign the contracts is insufficient to perform their assigned tasks - they gain the necessary experience directly during the fighting," Gromov said.

In his opinion, the Russian Federation can wage a long war of attrition due to "a significant mobilization resource.
