Lithuania protests to Russia after civilian plane violates airspace

The Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has expressed a diplomatic protest to Russia after a Russian civilian aircraft entered its airspace without permission.

According to Yevropeiska Pravda, this was stated in a statement by the Lithuanian Foreign Ministry.

On July 2, the Lithuanian Foreign Ministry summoned representatives of the Russian Embassy in Vilnius and handed over a note of protest in connection with the violation of the Baltic country's airspace.

The incident occurred on the evening of June 30, when a Russian Pobeda airline plane flying from Moscow's Vnukovo airport to Khrabrovo airport in Russia's Kaliningrad region illegally entered Lithuanian airspace over the Baltic Sea and stayed there for about a minute.

"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has protested to the representatives of the Russian Embassy in connection with this incident and demanded that the responsible Russian institutions provide explanations as soon as possible and take all necessary measures to prevent the recurrence of such incidents in the future," the statement said.
