France and Germany intend to unveil cooperation plans this week to strengthen Europe's air defense. This was reported by Bloomberg.
They are responding to pressure to commit to EU security in the wake of Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
The initiative is one of several policy areas, including capital markets reform, that German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has been pushing.
Options include adding another European air defense system to complement the shorter-term German-led European initiative, Sky Shield.
France, together with Italy, has developed a system known as SAMP-T, or Mamba.
