Mining of Zaporizhzhia NPP poses a threat to the entire region

The mining of nuclear power plants and hostilities in the immediate vicinity of a nuclear facility threaten the security of the entire region, and the United States calls for an immediate end to such actions.

This was stated by US State Department Deputy Spokesperson Vedant Patel, Censor.NET reports, citing Ukrinform.

"Such violent and unstable activities in the immediate vicinity of a nuclear power plant, and in this case, on the territory of a nuclear power plant, are extremely dangerous," the US Foreign Service spokesman said.

In this way, he commented on the United States' position in connection with the IAEA's information about the discovery of mines on the territory of the Zaporizhzhia NPP.

Patel emphasized that this creates a direct danger in the region.

"Because of this, we continue to call for an end to such actions in the immediate vicinity of the nuclear power plant," the State Department representative said.
