Missile strike on May 9: 25 missiles were fired, almost all shot down

On the night of May 9, Russian troops fired 25 sea and air-based missiles at the territory of Ukraine.

This was reported with reference to the Telegram of the Air Force of the AFU.

"Around 10 p.m. on May 8, from carriers in the Black Sea, the enemy fired eight Kalibr cruise missiles aimed at the eastern regions of the country. All eight targets were destroyed by the forces and means of air defense of Air Command East," the AFU Air Force said.

It is also reported that around 04:00 a.m. on May 9, the occupiers launched 17 air-launched cruise missiles Kh-101/Kh-555 from strategic aviation aircraft – four Tu-95ms (Caspian Sea area).

Air defense forces and facilities of Air Command Center destroyed 14 cruise missiles, one more in the area of responsibility of Air Command South. A total of 15 X-101/Kh-555 cruise missiles were destroyed.

In total, during two waves of shelling of Ukraine on the night of May 9, 2023, Russian occupants launched 25 Kalibr and X-101/X-555 cruise missiles, 23 of which were destroyed by the air defense forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, in cooperation with the components of the Defense Forces of Ukraine.
