NATO and Ukraine establish joint training center in Bydgoszcz

Feb 15, 2024

On February 15, a meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Council (NUC) decided to create a new structure to ensure closer cooperation between the Ukrainian Armed Forces and the Alliance.

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg told reporters after the meeting.

As you know, the meeting of the Council was held with the "virtual participation" of the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Rustem Umerov. However, the decision was agreed upon in advance and supported by all participants.

"Today we have decided to establish a center for joint analysis, education, and training in Bydgoszcz, Poland," said Stoltenberg.

The NATO Secretary General emphasized that this joint center is needed not only by Ukraine, but also by the Alliance itself.

"This center will allow Ukraine to share the experience it gained during the Russian-Ukrainian war and will create a structure that will allow the Ukrainian Armed Forces to learn and train side by side with NATO partners," Stoltenberg said.

The Secretary-General did not provide details on the expected work of the center, emphasizing only that it would facilitate opportunities to "share experiences."
