The North Atlantic Alliance continues to improve the defense of the Baltic States. But there are no indicators that would indicate an imminent war.

This was stated by the US Permanent Representative to NATO, Julianne Smith, RBC-Ukraine reports, citing Voice of America.

According to her, NATO continues to consider the Russian threat to be the main one for the Alliance. And Russia needs to be stopped, because if this is not done, dictator Vladimir Putin may go further. Therefore, it is important to push the Russians out of Ukraine and stop the Kremlin's aggression.

"I want to say to our friends in the Baltic States: we see no immediate threat to NATO territory in the Baltic region, or, frankly, in any other region," Smith emphasized.

She clarified that over the past few years, the Alliance has taken many steps to improve the protection of its eastern flank.

"We take the security concerns of our friends in the Baltic States very seriously and are taking active steps to improve our posture there," she added.

Smith said that the United States is "not signaling to anyone" that war is inevitable.

"Now we see that Russia is fully engaged in its unprovoked aggressive war inside Ukraine, but we have no indicators or warnings that a Russian war on NATO territory is imminent, and I really want to make that clear," the diplomat assured.
