The US expects to discuss the development of a roadmap for Ukraine's accession to NATO at the Alliance summit to be held on July 9-11 in Washington.

This is reported with reference to a statement by US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken at a press conference with French Foreign Minister Stephane Sejourne.

According to the US Secretary of State, he discussed the NATO summit and Ukraine's membership with his French counterpart. This topic will be discussed in more detail at the meeting of NATO foreign ministers in Brussels.

He recalled that during last year's NATO summit in Vilnius, the allies assured that Ukraine would join the Alliance.

"The problem is to have a good and clear roadmap to get there. And I believe that the NATO summit dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Alliance (in Washington - ed.) will really focus on how we can develop this roadmap," Blinken emphasized.

The secretary of state clarified that such a roadmap would be a "necessary bridge" that would allow Ukraine to become a NATO member.
