Apr 2, 2024

Norway intends to increase the number of conscripts from the current nine thousand to 13,500.

These plans were announced by the country's government, AP reports.

Norwegian Defence Minister Bjørn Arild Gram stressed the need to "have enough people with the right skills at the right time".

"In the future, we will need more people with professional military experience," the minister said.

According to him, the number of conscripts for military service in the country's armed forces will gradually increase every year.

The Defence Minister also announced a million-dollar investment in the Norwegian Armed Forces facility in Turningmoen, north of Oslo, where all recruits will be trained. He did not specify how much Norway would spend.
