Orban promises to discuss Romania's full accession to Schengen

Prime Ministers of Romania and Hungary Marcel Ciolacu and Viktor Orban discussed Romania's full accession to the Schengen area during a meeting on Friday, July 26.

This follows from the statements of both leaders on Twitter.

The head of the Romanian government spoke about a “productive conversation” with Orban on “issues of common interest.”

“I asked Hungary, which holds the presidency of the EU Council, to promote the EU's strategic agenda and Romania's full accession to Schengen,” Ciolacu added.

For his part, the Hungarian prime minister promised to include the issue of Romania's full integration into the Schengen area on the agenda of the EU Council.

“I have promised that the Hungarian presidency of the EU Council will put Romania's full accession to Schengen on the agenda in the fall,” Orban wrote on Twitter.
