This was stated by Prosecutor General Andriy Kostin during the international conference on human rights "Freedom or Fear," an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"As of today, we have already identified 463 war crimes suspects. Cases against 300 people are being heard in courts, and 70 Russian war criminals have already been convicted," he said.

According to him, out of more than 400 suspects, 159 people are suspected of illegal detention of civilians.

Kostin said that out of this number of suspects, 133 people have been charged with illegal detention of civilians, and that 25 of the 70 people who have been convicted of war crimes were convicted of illegal detention of Ukrainians.

"For some, this figure may seem small compared to the 111 thousand (war crimes - ed.) that have been registered. But when I talk to foreign partners, their reaction is: "This is unique. You are not only documenting, but also investigating and prosecuting these crimes today, during a full-scale war." And this is also a unique experience that has never existed in the world before," the Prosecutor General said.
