Poland signs contract with the US to buy missiles

May 28, 2024

On May 28, Polish Minister of National Defense Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysh signed an agreement to purchase several hundred AGM 158 JASSM-ER air-to-ground missiles from the United States with a range of more than 1,000 kilometers.

This was reported by RAR.

At a press conference in Warsaw, the Polish minister announced that the signing of a $735 million contract “is not a tactical purchase, it is a strategic purchase.”

He thanked the US Ambassador to Poland, who was present at the conference, Marek Brzezinski, for “the constant support of the Republic of Poland, for always being present with us, for overseeing and facilitating procurement opportunities for the Polish military from the United States.”

The JASSM cruise missiles, developed by Lockheed Martin, are designed to strike critical infrastructure, command posts, air defense systems, and enemy air bases from a long distance.

Poland has already purchased JASSM-ER missiles with an extended range. They are already in service with Polish F-16 aircraft and will also be on the more modern F-35.
