Pope's envoy for peace in Ukraine to visit Kyiv

Pope Francis' envoy for peace in Ukraine, Cardinal Matteo Zuppi, will visit Kyiv on June 5-6.

"Referring to the previous announcements of the Holy See, we inform you that on June 5-6, 2023, Cardinal Matteo Maria Zuppi, Archbishop of Bologna and President of the Italian Bishops' Conference, will pay a visit to Kyiv as an envoy of the Holy Father Francis," the Holy See said in a statement.
As noted, the main purpose of this visit is to listen carefully to the Ukrainian authorities about possible ways to achieve a just peace and to support gestures of humanity that will help ease tensions.
