Romanian farmers have asked the government to unilaterally ban imports of Ukrainian grain and other food products after the European Commission decided to lift restrictions.
RBC-Ukraine reported this with reference to Reuters.
"If a country such as Poland, which strongly and comprehensively supports Ukraine against Russian aggression, has made such a unilateral decision after the deadline set for September 15, we do not understand why Romania should show restraint to do the same," the farmers' association said in a statement.
At the same time, the farmers claim that their request does not affect the transit of grain from Ukraine.
"Our request in no way affects the transit of Ukrainian agricultural products through Romania in other directions, as is currently the case," the statement said.-
