Russia fired 28 missiles at Ukraine overnight, some were shot down

Russian invaders launched 28 cruise missiles at Ukraine at night. Ukrainian defenders managed to shoot down 16 targets.

This is reported with reference to the Ukrainian Air Force.

Thus, at about 4:00 a.m., the Russians attacked Ukraine with air- and sea-based missiles.

In total, at least 28 cruise missiles of various types were launched:

  • 4 Kh-22 cruise missiles – from six Tu-22M3 long-range aircraft (Soltsy and Shaykovka airfields);
  • 20 Kh-101/Kh-555 cruise missiles from 11 strategic aviation aircraft (Engels and Olenegorsk airfields);
  • 4 Kalibr cruise missiles from a frigate in the Black Sea (near Yalta).

An air alert was declared throughout Ukraine. Air defense was deployed in many regions: anti-aircraft missile units, mobile firing groups, fighter aircraft, and close air support units.

As a result of the anti-aircraft battle, the Ukrainian military destroyed 16 Kh-101/Kh-555 and Kalibr cruise missiles.

In addition, 8 launches of enemy S-300/S-400 anti-aircraft guided missiles were recorded in the Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhzhia regions.

The nighttime Russian missile attack caused explosions in a number of cities.

In Lutsk, an industrial plant was hit, killing three people. In Dnipro, an industrial enterprise was also hit, injuring two people. In Lviv, residential buildings and a kindergarten were hit.
