Russian troops may launch a large-scale offensive in the Donetsk sector in late spring or early summer.

This was reported by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).

The Russian command may concentrate its offensive in the western part of the Donetsk region, hoping to take advantage of the steady but insignificant advance of Russian troops in this sector.

At the same time, Ukrainian authorities have recently warned that the occupiers are amassing personnel along the Kharkiv-Luhansk direction, near Bakhmut, near Avdiivka, and in the western part of the Zaporizhzhia region.

ISW analysts believe that Russian troops are likely to be able to launch a coordinated large-scale offensive in only one operational area due to limited human resources and planning.

The report states that the Ukrainian Armed Forces appear to have repelled a Russian battalion mechanized attack near Avdiivka on March 30, the first battalion mechanized attack since Russian forces launched their campaign to capture Avdiivka in late October 2023.
