Sanna Marin: both Putin's and Russia's war continues in Ukraine

Jan 17, 2023

Finnish Prime Minister Sanna Marin believes that the Russian-Ukrainian war is both "Putin's war" and "Russia's war.

She said this, Yle reports, at a panel discussion at the World Economic Forum in Davos on Tuesday.

"I think this is both Putin's and Russia's war," the Finnish prime minister said in response to a question from the audience.

Marin added that Russians are at war in Ukraine, and many Russian citizens are deliberately turning their backs on the war. At the same time, in her opinion, this is a complicated issue because Russia is not a democratic state, and it is difficult to trust the polls there.

At the same time, the head of the Finnish government called on the West to send a clear message of support for Ukraine as long as it takes because it is unknown how long Russia's war will last.

"We must say openly and loudly that Ukraine will be supported for as long as it needs. Five years, ten years, fifteen years - as long as it needs," Marin stressed.
