Senate of Ireland recognized Holodomor in Ukraine as genocide

The Upper House of the Irish Parliament recognized the Holodomor of 1932-1933 in Ukraine as genocide.

According to Ukrinform, this was reported by the Embassy of Ukraine in Ireland on Facebook.

"A truly historic decision was made by the Senate of Ireland, recognizing the Holodomor of 1932-33 in Ukraine as genocide of the Ukrainian people," - the diplomatic mission said.

The embassy added that Ireland remains a true friend of Ukraine in its unwavering and unprecedented support and is not afraid to call a spade a spade.

"We are grateful to everyone who was directly involved in the preparation and adoption of this extremely important decision," - the diplomatic mission said.

As Ukrinform reported, members of both chambers of the Romanian parliament voted at a joint meeting on November 23 for a declaration condemning the deliberate famine (Holodomor), which the Ukrainian people were subjected to in 1932-1933.
