The Bundestag calls for allowing Ukraine to attack targets in Russia

Kyiv has asked Washington to lift the ban on strikes by American weapons on military targets located in Russia. This was reported by Spiegel.

Deputies from the ruling Social Democratic Party and the opposition CDU joined the call of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly to lift restrictions on the use of Western weapons that are transferred to Ukraine.

In an interview with the Rheinische Post, SPD MP and defense expert Andreas Schwarz said that the ban on Ukraine using the transferred weapons to hit targets on Russian territory gives Russia an advantage.

“Putin is taking advantage of our restrictions on the use of Western weapons in cold blood,” he emphasized. “There, the Russian army is absolutely calmly shelling Ukraine's second-largest city from Russian territory because Ukraine does not have sufficient air defense systems, and the Ukrainian army's hands are tied,” he said.
