"I welcome the recognition of the Holodomor as genocide by the House of Representatives of the Netherlands. Calling things by their proper names is a key prerequisite for justice and preventing the recurrence of such terrible crimes," he wrote.

Zelensky is also grateful to the Netherlands for the strong and comprehensive support of our country in the struggle for the future of Ukraine and the entire free world.

As a reminder, the Soviet government organized an artificial famine in Ukraine in 1932-1933. Back in 2006, the Verkhovna Rada recognized the Holodomor as genocide of the Ukrainian people.

At the same time, after the outbreak of Russia's full-scale war against Ukraine, consideration of the issue of recognizing the Holodomor as genocide intensified in many countries. The parliaments of Britain, Slovenia, Belgium, Ireland, Romania, Moldova, the Czech Republic, Germany, Iceland, France, Bulgaria, Luxembourg, and Croatia have already adopted the relevant declarations.
